Sudh Mahadev Festival (Mela) arrangements reviewed
Udhampur (Jammu), June 09 - Arrangements for the smooth conduct of 3-day historical Sudh Mahadev Mela starting from June 14, 2011 at Sudh Mahadev in tehsil Chenani of district Udhampur was reviewed at a meeting of district officers of different departments held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, at Sudh Mahadev today.
Deputy Inspector General of Police, Udhampur-Reasi Range, Senior Superintendent of Police, District heads of various departments, members of local Mela Committee were also present in the meeting. Threadbare discussion on various arrangements like drinking water and power supply, medicare, sanitation, security, transport, accommodation, checking of rates of essentials and parking of vehicles etc. were held in the meeting.
The District Development Commissioner directed Executive Engineer PHE to erect adequate number of public points at the Mela site well in advance while Executive Engineer, PDD was asked to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Mela days. The Chief Medical Officer was asked to depute a team of doctors with ambulance and required medicines to meet any eventuality at Chenani, Sudh Mahadev and Mantalai round the clock during the Mela days. Executive Engineer, PWD was asked to erect separate temporary toilets and bath rooms for males and females at the Mela site and Mantalai for the convenience of pilgrims. Modalities for providing tented accommodation at festival site were also discussed.
Adequate deployment of security personnel at festival site and enroute would be made by District Police to ensure fool-proof security. The ARTO Udhampur would ensure plying of adequate number of buses from Udhampur.
A committee comprising of Assistant Director, CA & PD, Naib Tehsildar Sudhmahadev and Food Inspector was constituted to keep a strict vigil on rates and quality of eatables besides adequate parking places would also be identified at different locations for the smooth flow of traffic.
Tehsildar, Chenani would be the Mela Officer to supervise all arrangements.
The District Development Commissioner stressed upon the officers concerned to make coordinated and concerted efforts in ensuring their arrangements well in advance to make the festival a grand success.
