Jammu & Kashmir Government bracing up for
Illumination of Monuments & Forts
Jammu, September 04 - The State Government is mulling an ambitious project for the illumination of all historical buildings in Jammu region, including famous forts and monuments to show case them for promoting heritage tourism in the region.
Giving details of the project on the side lines of a power presentation by a Delhi based firm which has been approached to execute the same, the Minister for Tourism, Nawang Rigzin Jora said historical buildings and forts across Jammu region which gives a glimpse into the Dogra heritage and culture would be covered under the proposed illumination projects. He said the illumination of these places would definitely add to their tourists attraction.
Asserting that promotion of non conventional tourism is among top priorities of the state government, the Minister said that illumination of these places would help in show casing the rich heritage and culture of the state in more impressive manner.
Earlier a detailed power point presentation was presented by the firm at Reception Centre Jammu.
Later the Minister also inspected the pace of conservation work of the Mubarak Mandi Complex. Minister inspected each section of the historical building being developed as Dogra heritage complex .
Minister sought details about the conservation work and asked the executing agencies to tackle the same with great care to avoid damage to the original architectural designs and miniature on the walls and roof top at the heritage building.
Director Tourism Mr. A K Sawhney, senior officers from Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation and state Archaeology department accompanied the Minister during the tour. |
