All Pilgrims visiting Shri Mata Vaishno Deviji insured.
Jammu, March 04 - Replying to a Calling Attention Notice in the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Council today, the Minister for Health, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma said that Shri Mata Vashno Devi Board gets insured all the pilgrims who visit the Shrine for paying obeisance. The insurance covers accidental deaths of pilgrims on the track from Banganga to Bhawan. He said in the event of an accidental death of a pilgrim on the track, the next of kin are entitled to an amount of Rs. one lakh.
The Minister today informed the Jammu & Kashmir House that as per the report received from Additional Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Katra, SDM Bhawan and SHO Bhawan, a yatri namely Smt. Prabha Ram Doke W/o Mr. Ram Doke R/o Mumbai and a ponywala, Mr. Abdul Hamid S/o Mr. Mohammad Mushtaq R/o Shajroo, Tehsil Mahore, district Rasi died due to a shooting stone near Harthi Matha in Sanjhi Chat sector on February 25, 2010.
While the insurance company may take some time to process the claim in respect of Mrs. Doke, the Shrine Board has sent a cheque for Rs. one lakh in the name of Shri Ram Doke R/o Mumbai (husband of the deceased).
As per the report of Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Katra, Mr. Abdul Hamid, S/o Mr. Mohammad Mushtaq is a registered ponywallh with the Municipal Committee, Katra, bearing Regn. No. 3984. The Municipal Committee, Katra has insured each pithu/ponywala for an amount of Rs. two lakh. The Municipal Committee Katra had arranged an ambulance, free of cost, to carry the body of the deceased ponywallah to his native place. The insurance claim of the deceased is being submitted by Municipal Committee, Katra the concerned insurance company.
