Chief Minister Jammu & Kashmir launches multi functional dredgers in world famous Dal Lake
Kashmir, Srinagar, March 06- “The Dal Lake which is epitome of beauty of Kashmir valley since times immemorial and has attained world fame as a favourite tourism destination shall be given full attention by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir so that its past glory is revived”, said Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah while launching two latest amphibian multi-functional dredgers for cleaning operation in the Dal lake here today.
These machines alongwith attachments can venture into such areas of the Dal lake where no other self-propelled machine has been able to enter.
The Chief Minister said that a multi pronged approach is being executed for conservation of the world famous Dal lake in Kashmir. He said apart from carrying dredging and removal of weeds and land mass in the Dal in Kashmir, sewerage treatment plants are under construction to ensure treatment of the sewerage from the catchment areas of the Dal Lake. He said there is need to start forestation in the Dal catchment areas and also speed up rehabilitation of the Dal dwellers in Kashmir. While observing various operations of the new machines, the Chief Minister expressed hope that with these would have a good impact on ground and a discernable change would be visible.
