Air Safaris to attract Tourists to Jammu & Kashmir
Srinagar (Kashmir) , May 14 – The Government has decided to start air safaris to attract high-end visitors to important tourist destinations in the State. Jammu & Kashmir Tourist Development Corporation (JKTDC) will be the Nodal Agency to coordinate the air safaris, which will be an add-on for providing fillip to greater tourism activity.
A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting chaired by Minister of State for Tourism, Jammu & Kashmir Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani, here today. Commissioner/Secretary, Tourism & Culture, Director Tourism, Kashmir and Managing Director, JKTDC attending the meeting.
Initially, eight destinations across the State have been shortlisted for air safaris for which national-level tenders will be invited to make the entire process transparent.
“Air safaris hold great potential in our State and gradually we will establish a well-coordinated network to take tourists to new identified spots in remote areas,” Minister said said.
The proposed air safaris will help tourists to venture into several inaccessible areas like Lolab-Bungus, Gurez and Zanskar, besides scenic spots in Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch and Rajouri districts.
