Shri Amarnath ji Yatra-2010 flagged off from Jammu
Jammu, June - 30 - A fleet of 73 buses carrying 1273 Shri amarnathji pilgrims including 400 sadhus was flagged off from the base camp at 5.30 a.m. today by the Minister of Tourism, Jammu & Kashmir, for onward journey to the Holy Cave shrine in the Valley.
On way to Srinagar rousing reception was accorded to the 1st batch of Shri Amarnath Ji pilgrims at Udhampur by the people and district administration this morning.
A large number of people and the district authorities, received the first batch of the pilgrims near Battal Ballian Udhampur bye pass road.
The locals who were standing along the road welcomed the pilgrims and offered light refreshment, sweets and drinking water.
The District authorities have also made arrangements for the medical checkup of the pilgrims and medicines and drugs useful during yatra were distributed among them.
During their short stay at Udhampur, the officers on duty including Assistant Commissioner, Revenue and Deputy Controller, Civil Defence also apprised the pilgrims about the prevalent weather condition at Baltal and Phalgam, besides giving information about various routs leading to the Holy Cave Shrine. The pilgrims were also informed about the arrangements made for them at the base camp, besides other facilities being extended to them.
The authorities urged upon the pilgrims to utilize and avail all the facilities being extended by the government during the yatra.
The pilgrims appreciated the goodwill gesture of Police and Civil Administration Udhampur for according them unforgettable reception and all cooperation.
The District Administration, Udhampur has made elaborate arrangements of drinking water, power supply, medicare, construction of temporary toilets, traffic regulation and security between Tikri and Kud, the yatra stretch passing through the district, besides a special control room has also been set up at the PWD Dak Banglow on the NH AI which would function round the clock for the assistance of pilgrims.
